They say that if you have the time, taking a train is a good experience. I don't like flying either and avoid it whenever possible. I had to go to Miami a while back and drove the 12 hours instead of flying. Actually, I really enjoyed it . . . at least the trip down. It was bike weekend at Daytona and the highway was pretty festive! Driving got pretty old coming back though.

I have to be careful with myself that I don't get caught up in examining the details so much that my action gets frozen up.
It's easy for me to get so wrapped up in gathering so much information that I get "inactionitis", a form of manifested "fear" that I'll never do anything until I've got "it all". That was one of my prep phobias, sort of speak. There comes a time that you gota' know that you feel relatively comfortable with your prep, then make your move, whatever it is.
Self-reliance in part is of becoming comfortable with and having a workable level of confidence on our mind's ability to appraise a situations "for or against me" color and then act given the information that you've gathered and appraised. We're not always going to be right. But our survival depends on making a decision and then judging the feedback. Hope this helps. best regards,
conrad

Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it.
Do not believe in traditions simply because they have been handed down for many generations.
Do not believe in anything simply because it is spoken and rumored by many.
Do not believe in anything simply because it is found written in your religious books.
Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders.
But when, after observation and analysis, you find anything that agrees with reason,
and is conducive to the good and benefit of one and all, then accept it and live up to it.

Yes, Cody, working as a translator is good. Prepare to transfer from Moscow to a post in England.
I have heard of it, in Russia, many are Christian and Muslem.
It was accident to visit here. I was searching Tozan.com in Brasil. A company in telecommunications. Internet costs very expensive in Russia. This is through my company and time is very expensive cost. I will keep your address in Spain and will ring you up. Kay T is a nice person and will e-mail me attatchment and I will get articles printed to read more until going to England.

So who is attending the Gateway Computer Show (Amiga 2000) in St. Louis this year? I'm going to try to attend this year after a 2 year absense.
I'd love to,no job = no money = no trip = no fun. I've never been to an Amiga show, and to only one (at least semi-major) computer show, back in the mid '80s in/near silicon valley.

It is the common people that erected the person to begin with and it is the common people that need to wake up and stop placing human beings on pedestals that they are destined to fall off of sooner or later.
Human beings do love their superstitions and cling to them as they do the rest of their illusionary attachments. So the process of releasing oneself from attachments/illusions is what? heretical? I don't think so.
Huh, are you referring to me or someone else? I agree with you.
The Chris-Shu is attached to some of his superstitions but would prefer to shed his illusions.

Glad we had a chance to talk at this last coin show. My wife and I are quite impressed with your site. Got your price list and found a few really good items we would like to look at and possibly trade when we have the chance to get together. In the meantime, if you make it out this way anytime soon, we'd always like to share a few things we've uncovered in the coin business over the years. 'til the next coins show or sooer. Ha!

Must the explaination [of Venus' retrograde rotation] be only that either Venus was not formed at the same time as the other planets OR that something hit it to disrupt its 'normal' rotation?
---Not nevessarily. But those two explanations are of course the obvious ones that quickly suggests themselves.
Don't one or more of the Giant Gas Planets have satellites (moons) which also rotate 'backwards'?
---Yes. I can go find out which, if you like. Most of these are very small and are probably captured asteroids, so there would be no reason why they should necessarily revolve in the "forward" way.
If more solar system objects are out there they would presumably have very long periods which may require comparisons of decades of photo's to detect their movement or their occultation of other celestial objects.
---Objects in the solar system, even ones far beyond Pluto, will display enough motion to be quickly noticed. After all, even the proper motion of the stars is relatively easy to notice. The biggest problem is that the trans-Pluto objects are apparently mostly small and dim, so to see them in the first place isn't easy. But if there is a big planet out there, it should be found sooner or later.

Really glad I got a copy of `The Saga of an American Frontiersman.' It was absolutely excellent. It was worth the time and you were right. "I will ALWAYS remember having read it." Since that day must have been my book-buying day, I also got a copy of `How to Cheat Master Manipulators & WIN! I can't believe you have the audacity to sell this guys writings!! It is most provocative and was all very well described. The real problem is-It IS the TRUTH!. I want to hear the truth, all of it, wether I like it or not. Guess that's the difference between a `winner' and a `loser'. One creates value and one destroys value because they are too lazy to `think'.

An interesting computer related tidbit from this article. ts.
"Investigators are also puzzling over the flight data recorder information on rudder movements, sources said. Just as the plane began its dive, the elevator data "went haywire," a source said, although much work remains to determine if there is any significance to the data. Sources also said that the elevator control system was jammed into the stabilizer."
FAA orders mass plane inspection- Evidence indicates extreme wear on Flight 261 part

By Don Phillips- WASHINGTON POST
WASHINGTON, Feb. 11
The Federal Aviation Administration yesterday ordered an immediate inspection of the entire fleet of single-aisle planes built by McDonnell Douglas 1,100 in the United States after two Alaska Airlines aircraft were found to have damage in the tail section similar to that found in the wreckage of Alaska Airlines Flight 261.

Another MD-80 incident from Jan.30 unreported til now
Hi Conrad...
you betcha I'd find an alternate transportation method if I had to go any distance any time soon. (and Yes, I think one of the most telling points in this whole MD-80 saga is Alaska airlines good safety record UNTIL NOW.) And yes, if I were in a carpool and found out the car I was pooling in had a poor safety record, I'd find another carpool (or take the bus). And yes, when I buy a vehicle, I research the Consumer reports, Govt Crash tests etc and the results play a large part in my buying decision. Another example...when I found out, on THIS list, that canola oil may have potential health risks, I returned the canola oil I'd purchased to the store and exchanged it for olive oil. (Maybe the canola oil would be OK...but, it was a potential hazard that I had some measure of control over...I can't control, for example, the possible leaks from the chemical plant near by, and, I can't afford to move right now, so that's a potential hazard I have to live with for the present. The canola oil..was under my control:- ..........
(And yes, I stated up front I HATE flying nowadays anyway...in commercial planes. I consider the airport experience appalling...from having to ID myself, running the metal detector gauntlet, etc, to having to wait and wait in a huge crowded terminal...and PAY good money for this? yuk. I enjoy flying in private planes, and, I USED to enjoy flying commercial. But I can deal with unpleasantness. But the current rash of airplane glitches ...make me very uneasy about my safety, so, I'll stay grounded for awhile:-)
I also like to pass along information to others about potential risks, so that they too can weigh the risk and take whatever action they think best.

There were a few things I purchased from her. Some of the more ancient ones are better priced in quantity.
Some of my coins took longer than expected, although she is trustful, reliable, and what she says she does.
I am more impressed with `doers', than `watchers'. She is most competant.

How to handle telemarketers- Top 10 things to say to a telemarketer...

10. When they ask "How are you today?" Tell them! "I'm so glad you asked because no one these days seems to care, and I have all these problems; my arthritis is acting up, my eyelashes are sore, my dog just died..."

9. If they say they're John Doe from XYZ Company, ask them to spell their name. Then ask them to spell the company name. Then ask them where it is located. Continue asking them personal questions or questions about their company for as long as necessary.

8. Cry out in surprise, "Judy! Is that you? Oh my God! Judy, how have you been?" Hopefully, this will give Judy a few brief moments of pause as she tries to figure out where the h--l she could know you from.

7. If MCI calls trying to get you to sign up for the Family and Friends Plan, reply, in a SINISTER voice , "I don't have any friends ..would you be my friend?"

6. If they want to loan you money, tell them you just filed for bankruptcy and you could sure use some money.

5. Tell the telemarketer you are on "home incarceration" and ask if they could bring you a case of beer and some chips.

4. After the telemarketer gives their spiel, ask him/her to marry you. When they get all flustered, tell them that you could not just give your credit card number to a complete stranger.

3. Tell the telemarketer you are busy at the moment and ask them if they will give you their HOME phone number so you can call them back. When the telemarketer explains that they cannot give out their HOME number, you say, "I guess you don't want anyone bothering you at home, right?" The telemarketer will agree and you say, "Now you know how I feel!" Say good by - and hang up.

2. Insist that the caller is really your buddy Leon, playing a joke. "Come on Leon, cut it out! Seriously, Leon, how's your momma?"

And first and foremost:
1. Tell them to talk VERY SLOWLY, because you want to write EVERY WORD down.

- Chuck

There's a link I think, Mark, either on the main page or maybe on a second page to a service by Bill Bonner. It is called `Daily Reconning'.com.
In either case if it's not on Tozan.com, just go to Dailyreconing.com (I will check the spelling.) I accidently came across it because I am a subscriber to www.strategicinvestment.com
Strategic Investment is a financial newsletter made by Agora Publishing. Bill Bonner's company. My ads through tozan are strictly through the web link, but I get free mail forwarding and the same with aol.com, but some of those sites are too busy. Have you tried the hotmail.com?? That java screen makes me crash. Have you got that new I-browse browser for yours?
